My family and I had a wonderful time at the renaissance festival. The weather was perfect too. And great food – turkey legs of course – mead, Irish ale. We enjoyed the experience from beginning to end, the fire-eaters, jokers, jousters, kings, knights, wenches. We bought lots of things from artwork to medieval trinkets, and even took belly-dancing lessons. I bought my husband a dagger which was magnificently hand-forged by a master artisan named John Thompson. My husband and I both collected swords and knives before we even met and still do this day. We love the medieval style and even had a medieval-renaissance wedding in the woods, complete with knights and ladies, torches, mead, and a medieval feast. My husband even built (as a surprise for me) a cart fit for a king and queen that our knights (groomsmen) pulled us away on as we left the ceremony. Good times! At the ren-fest, one of my absolute favorite shows was after closing time when the drummers were playing a lively tune outside the faire gates. Everyone was dancing and having a great time. Ah, what a fantastic day. I’m inspired to plan another renaissance party myself!
